NPS has moved from Turnitin to iThenticate.
iThenticate is software that can be used by faculty members and some staff to check papers for material that has not been properly cited, quoted, or paraphrased. It is primarily used by the Thesis Processing Office on Initial Drafts and Near-final Drafts. It is also used by writing coaches in the Graduate Writing Center as a learning and teaching tool, when appropriate or requested. iThenticate can be a valuable tool for identifying verbatim plagiarism. When draft papers are analyzed, students have the opportunity to learn and apply attribution rules; this often requires guidance from a writing coach or faculty member. In addition, some teaching and advising faculty use iThenticate with submitted coursework. See the iThenticate Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more information, including how faculty can request an account.
